SOR IV Funded Coalitions

California Department of Health Care Services announces $2.7m awarded to reduce overdose deaths in California through prevention, treatment and harm reduction strategies led by multi-sector coalitions.

The California Overdose Prevention Network (COPN), based at PHI Center for Health Leadership and Impact (CHLI), is the financial administrator for coalitions funded by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). This funding supports local overdose prevention coalitions to reduce overdose deaths from illicitly manufactured fentanyl and other drugs through implementation of overdose prevention, treatment and harm reduction strategies.

The following 15 coalitions will receive awards up to $75k per year through August 2027:

  • OD Free Marin

  • Project HOPE

  • Know Overdose Nevada County

  • Santa Clara County Opioid Overdose Prevention Project (SCCOOPP)

  • RxSafe Humboldt

  • Sacramento County Opioid Coalition

  • Drug Safe Solano

  • El Dorado Coalition for Overdose Prevention and Education (COPE)

  • Stanislaus County Opioid Safety Coalition

  • Yuba/Sutter Community Overdose Prevention Efforts (YSHCF)

  • SafeRx Santa Cruz County Coalition

  • SLO Opioid Safety Coalition

  • Morongo Basin Community Coalition

  • SafeRx Lake County

  • Yurok Tribe Wellness Coalition

As a result of this funding, our coalition will be able to continue to provide community education and awareness to reduce opioid use and increase opportunities for overdose prevention. We will also be able to build on the provider connections we’re currently working on to increase access and availability of treatment and harm reduction services across the county.
