Colliding Crises: Overdose Prevention During California Wildfire Season

Are you facing wildfires in your region or looking to better prepare for the future? Climate emergencies are an unfortunate new reality that have a devastating impact on vulnerable populations, including people who use drugs. Join us for a conversation with COPN’s Impact Coach, Dr. Mary Maddux-Gonzalez, and Marin Hambley from the Northern Valley Harm Reduction Coalition. Dr. Maddux-Gonzalez supports preparedness and response efforts in Sonoma County and Marin played a key role in overdose prevention activities after the 2018 Paradise Fire.

During this interactive session we will discuss key strategies and lessons learned when responding to, and preparing for wildfire season in California. There will be plenty of time for discussion, so please come with any questions or lessons learned from your local work.
